A bit wordy, but totally awesome.
One time my cable modem was failing in such a way that my wireless router had died, but my phone (also through the modem) still worked (my cell phone had no signal). Tech support instructed me to disconnect the modem. “Not a good idea,” I replied, “since the moment I disconnect the modem, my phone will die too.” But they couldn’t leave the script. It took forever to reach someone who actually understood that FOLLOWING THE SCRIPT WOULD END THE CALL.
